SIH Coach Kill Cancer Fund
Former SIU Football Coach Jerry Kill's experience with cancer inspired him to support others who are also fighting this disease. Drawing from his own personal experiences, Coach Kill, alongside Rebecca Kill, partnered with the SIH Foundation in 2007 to establish the SIH Coach Kill Cancer Fund.
This Fund offers vital assistance to cancer patients in the southern 16 counties of Illinois who are burdened by overwhelming financial challenges. From fuel expenses to cancer-related medical bills, prescriptions, and even nutritional needs, the Fund addresses each patient's unique obstacles. It also provides essential support for lodging, public transportation costs, and the acquisition of medical equipment if the need arises. When seeking cancer treatment, patients can find solace in knowing that the Fund will alleviate some of their financial strain.
Since its inception, the SIH Coach Kill Cancer Fund has supported nearly 2,000 patients, providing a ray of hope along their challenging journey. Coach Kill and the SIH Foundation have demonstrated a commitment not only to transforming lives, but also to strengthening the Southern Illinois community with empathy and resilience in the face of cancer's relentless impact.
