MULBERRY CENTER AT HARRISBURG

SIH Foundation is proud to help change access to inpatient psychiatric care for all Southern Illinoisans by expanding the scope of services available at Mulberry Center at Harrisburg Medical Center. In the lower third of the state of Illinois (30 counties) there are currently only 61 beds for inpatient psychiatric care, with 31 of those beds at Mulberry Center and the remaining beds 90 miles away. Without expansion of this facility, many patients must leave the area for psychiatric care, which negatively impacts their ability to recover close to their family, friends, and day-to-day lives. Furthermore, SIH hopes to expand Mulberry Center to continue to offer quality psychiatric care in an environment where comprehensive medical care is available. Through an interactive experience, patients learn to better understand themselves and begin accepting responsibility for their own wellbeing. This process provides opportunities for patients to practice effective alternatives for managing their lives.

SIH PATIENT & COMMUNITY SUPPORT FUNDS
(Coach Kill Cancer Fund & Patient Care Fund)

The Coach Kill Cancer Fund assists cancer patients in financial need living in the southern 16 counties of Illinois who are actively seeking treatment for cancer, whether it be at the SIH Cancer Institute or another facility. This fund has provided funding to 2417 patients with over $906,700 in financial assistance. The Patient Care Fund assists SIH patients in need upon discharge from an SIH hospital, same day surgery center, or outpatient clinic. This fund has provided funding to 14,450 patients with over $531,000 in financial assistance.
